Bruce House

Bruce House brings hope, housing and support to individuals and families impacted by HIV in Ottawa and area with a commitment to ensuring our clients have access to equality, housing stability, supported independence, and opportunities for healthy living.

Our clientele includes women, men, and children living with HIV who may be dealing with addiction, mental health issues, homelessness and incarceration. We support a diverse population including members of the LGBTQ, ACB (African, Caribbean, and Black), and Indigenous communities as well as newcomers to Canada.

Since opening its doors in 1988, through the generous support of local individuals and organizations, Bruce House has been delivering a ‘housing-first’ approach for people in our community living with HIV.

Today HIV is a manageable medical condition which comes with significant health and social impacts. Bruce House programs have evolved to meet these changing needs in an environment which respects the dignity and self-determination of the individual.

Our programs and services have a positive impact on the day-to-day lives of individuals, families and our neighbourhoods. With the rising need for housing, and support for those now aging with HIV, Bruce House is committed to supporting clients so that there are no gaps resulting in housing instability, food insecurity and deteriorating health.
