Emily Murphy Non-Profit Housing Corporation (EMNPHC) provides affordable housing and housing support services in a community setting for young single parents (including youth who are parenting) who choose to live alone with their children. Located in Blackburn Hamlet, EMNPHC consists of 38 two- and three-bedroom stacked townhouses.
On-site supports include informal counselling and drop-in support for tenants and their children, including advocacy with and referrals to other agencies and services, children’s playgroups, respite care, adult programming (including Collective Kitchens, Lunch & Learns and fitness programs), and In-Home Support to assist tenants with home maintenance or parenting support. Families living at EMNPHC are encouraged to participate in a number of community activities and events, and work together to ensure that all children are thriving in a safe neighbourhood.
EMNPHC is managed by a volunteer Board of Directors and an on-site staff team that oversees program support and referrals as well as property maintenance. The Executive Director works out of Unit 106, and the Family Support Coordinator and the Family Support Workers work out of Unit 94.
