Options Bytown

Caring and creative Ottawa residents and community groups came together in 1987 because they saw a crisis in our community and knew we could do more to help people who were homeless.

The group determined a solution beyond shelters was needed. They established Options Bytown to work towards a new answer to the homelessness crisis. Our first building opened its doors in the heart of Ottawa’s Byward Market in 1989.

Today we operate four supportive housing sites, run eight resource centres in Ottawa Community Housing buildings, support and house 150 people through our Housing First program, and run a peer-to-peer program to help those with hoarding behaviours.

We have a 30-year track record of providing safe and permanent housing for people who may otherwise experience chronic homelessness. Options Bytown is driven by the belief that we all deserve a home.
